1. The majority of gastropods have haemolymph containing the respiratory pigment haemocyanin. 2. There are no phagocytic amoebocytes and cells containing the respiratory pigment haemerythrin. 3. There is no true heart and the blood often lacks any respiratory pigment . 4. Respiratory pigment is also dissolved in the blood plasma.5. The blood may be colourless, or have any of three different respiratory pigments . 6. The red king crab blood contains leukocytes and the second most common respiratory pigment called hemocyanin. 7. The respiratory pigment in humans is hemoglobin, which makes up most of the adult red blood cell. 8. Some gastropods, such as the sea hare " Aplysia ", appear to lack respiratory pigments altogether. 9. The blood of oligochaetes contains haemoglobin in all but the smallest of species, which have no need of respiratory pigments . 10. Detailed investigation of the haemocoel of " C . squamiferum " will reveal further information about its respiratory pigments .
